Chess Clock
Last updated: May 19, 2026
Summary
Chess Clock is designed as a local, over-the-board chess timer for iPhone and iPad. The app does not require an account, does not show ads, and does not sell personal information.
Your player profiles, saved games, move timing logs, statistics, and app preferences are stored on your device so the app can run games, keep history, and show personal stats.
Information Stored by the App
When you use Chess Clock, the app may store the following information locally on your device:
- Player profile names, avatar symbols, profile colors, and creation dates.
- Saved game history, including player names, time control, result, total moves, game duration, and average move times.
- Move-by-move clock records, including move number, side, move duration, and remaining clock time.
- Settings such as theme, clock face style, digit size, orientation preference, sound options, low-time threshold, auto-save preference, and default player names.
Information We Do Not Collect
Chess Clock does not ask you to create an account and does not collect contact details, precise location, photos, camera data, microphone data, contacts, health data, or payment information.
The app code currently configures Firebase Core, but it does not use Firebase Analytics, advertising, authentication, cloud storage, or a backend service to collect your chess clock data.
Sharing and Exporting
Chess Clock lets you share saved games, your game library, and filtered statistics using the iOS share sheet. Sharing only happens when you choose to use a share action. The destination you select in the share sheet receives the exported text.
Live Activities, Sounds, and Haptics
Chess Clock can use iOS Live Activities to show an active clock on supported devices while a game is running. Live Activity content is generated from the current clock state on your device.
The app also uses local sound and haptic feedback for move taps, low-time alerts, flag alerts, and reset feedback. You can adjust sound options in Settings.
Data Control
You can manage your data inside the app. Settings includes options to clear saved game history, clear player profiles, and reset app settings. You can also delete individual saved games from History.
Deleting the app from your device removes the local app data stored by Chess Clock, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior controlled by Apple.
Children's Privacy
Chess Clock is a general-purpose chess timer. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
